California Homeowner Bill of Rights Becomes LawAll eyes in the nation now turn to California as Governor Jerry Brown signed into law today the Homeowner Bill of Rights to help struggling Californians keep their homes. This law aims to avoid foreclosure where possible to help stabilize California's housing market and prevent the other negative effects of foreclosures on families, communities, and the economy. The new law will generally prohibit lenders from engaging in dual tracking, require a single point of contact for borrowers seeking foreclosure prevention alternatives, provide borrowers with certain safeguards during the foreclosure process, and provide borrowers with the right to sue lenders for material violations of this law.
The following is a summary of the key provisions of the Homeowner Bill of Rights that may affect California's REALTORS® and their clients. The full text of this law, also known as Assembly Bill 278 and Senate Bill 900, is available at www.leginfo.ca.gov.

Regency Theatres Finally Getting a New Look
Construction at Regency Rancho Niguel Theatres at 25471 Rancho Niguel Road  in the Center at Rancho Niguel began on Monday with the closure of two of its eight screens for retrofitting. This is just phase one of a multi-phase modernization project. The renovations are expected to be completed by fall, and the venue will continue to offer independent/classic films within Mediterranean-themed atmosphere
Multiple theatres will be converted to stadium-style seating to meet the demand of today's film going audiences. At the same time the theaters are taking into consideration the senior crowd who frequent the building, and are making sure plenty of accessible seating is in place for them. The lobby will be remodeled with an entirely new design. Concessions will relocate, a wine and beer bar will be available for guests, and multiple seating areas will be put in place giving the space an open lounge feel so guests may relax and discuss films before and after. - Laguna Niguel Patch
